Why this clinic
Six things, exactly as stated.
None of the following is a marketing promise. Each one can either be verified independently or is shown to you in writing at the first consultation.
One operation only
Only obesity surgery, since 2009. The same operation, repeated.
Independent accreditation
SRC Master Surgeon, 2021. Verifiable in their own register.
A JCI-accredited hospital
Surgery takes place at Kent Hospital — not in a clinic.
The programme is written first
Which day you speak to whom is set before you travel.
An accredited follow-up team
Dietitians and nurses hold SRC Care Specialist accreditation.
You are told if you are not a candidate
Surgery is performed only on patients who meet the criteria.
The programme
All two years, written down in advance.

Method
Roughly 80% of the stomach is removed.
Sleeve gastrectomy is performed laparoscopically, under general anaesthesia. Below is what happens, what does not, and what carries risk.
Hover the parts
The outcome is decided not on the operating table, but in the two years that follow.
Eligibility
The operation is not for everyone.
What follows is a preliminary screen. The decision is made not by one number, but by examination, tests and psychiatric evaluation together.
If you are found not to be a candidate, you will be told so plainly.
Calculate your body mass index
Drag the point, or the rulers
Each curve marks one constant body mass index. The same weight lands on a different curve at a different height.
This number is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. Muscle mass, age and accompanying conditions change the picture; eligibility is never decided from a single number. Read more

Hospital
Surgery happens in a hospital, not a clinic.
The clinic is in Mavişehir; surgery and the inpatient stay take place at Kent Health Group. The distinction matters: bariatric surgery requires access to intensive care and interventional radiology the moment a complication appears.
The team
Who you speak to after surgery.
The team running the programme is known from the start. The surgeon performs the operation; the two years are carried by the team together.
Dietitians
A personal nutrition plan, updated regularly. SRC Care Specialist.
Nurses
Remote checks after discharge. SRC Care Specialist.
Patient coordinator
Appointments, transport, accommodation. One point of contact.
Op. Dr. Tufan Ergenç
First consultation, surgery, and the month 6, 12 and year 2 reviews.
From abroad
Everything is settled before you travel.
The first consultation happens remotely; if you are a candidate, the journey is planned afterwards. From arrival to discharge, the arrangements are coordinated by the clinic.
Questions
Common questions.
Whether you are a candidate is settled in a single consultation. You do not need to travel to İzmir for it.
Enquiry formCan the consultation happen before I travel to İzmir?
Yes. Whether you are a candidate is settled in a single consultation, and you do not need to travel to İzmir for it.
Where does the surgery take place?
In a hospital, not a clinic: surgery and the inpatient stay take place at Kent Health Group, with immediate access to intensive care and interventional radiology.
Is sleeve gastrectomy reversible?
No. The removed portion cannot be put back; this is an irreversible operation, and it is discussed openly in the first consultation.
Who is it not suitable for?
Eligibility is not decided from a single number; body mass index, accompanying conditions, previous abdominal surgery and psychiatric evaluation are assessed together. If you are not a candidate, you will be told so.
How does follow-up work after surgery?
The written programme runs for two years: which day you speak to whom, and what gets measured, is set from the start. It completes at year two, but the line does not close — you can still reach the team afterwards.
Are there risks?
Yes. Sleeve gastrectomy is major surgery; the principal risks are staple-line leakage, bleeding, blood clots, stricture, and — over the longer term — reflux and vitamin deficiency. None of these risks is zero.
